My Role Model- APJ Abdul Kalam

A role model is a person whose example, behaviour, achievements, success stories can be emulated by other individuals especially young people. A role model is someone from whom other individual gets inspiration and aspires to be like them.
One of the most important characteristics of an ideal role model is never to give up hope and hard work in the face of oddities. Life is ready to throw challenges at different stages but a true winner is the one who does not get vulnerable to the unfavorable situation and keeps on finding ways to beat the challenge and fight right up to success.

Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam has encouraged many young blood of India to dream big and achieve those. He belongs to a poor family yet with his hard work and self belief, became the 11th President of India. He did not have anyone to support him at childhood as his father’s income was not as per needs. Kalam, at a very early age had to start working to support his father financially by selling newspapers at Rameswaram of Tamil Nadu, the place where he was born. In spite of deficiency in monitory assets, he continued his education with determination and sheer hard work. He was a self motivated person and was dedicated to work.
Unlike most of the scientists, Dr. Kalam studied in India throughout his educational career and utilized the resources of the nation. He also concentrated on the brain drain issue and inspired the Indian companies to be multinational. Dr. Kalam, with his interest in flight led him to work for DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization) and later with ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization). He is popular as the Missile man of India and is considered to be the driving force for India in the development of defence technology.

“End is not the end, if fact END means "Effort Never Dies" - If you get No as an answer, remember NO means "Next Opportunity". So Let's be positive."

Throughout his life, this great man has taught to keep on with the endeavors to fulfill the dreams the big goals in life. He always encouraged never to get bogged down by failures but to continue looking for the opportunities that will ultimately lead to the ray of light.
“If you fail, never give up because FAIL means "First Attempt In Learning".

Dr. Kalam became a role model not only through his fight and success against adversity but also with his humble way of living. He had always been pro-active in getting down from the podium and interacting directly with the people below, mostly kids and students. Always a believer of simplicity, he stayed unfazed by the luxuries around. Even during his stay at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, he used a small simple room and often had food with his bunch of staff, right on the floor.
The great man’s ever-active lifestyle and youthful spirit was another major reason that made him a role model for all. Even after crossing 80, he did not stop playing his veena or composing poems or professing speeches before students. In fact, moments before his fatal cardiac attack of July 27th, the 84-year-old scientist was giving his lectures at IIM Shillong.
Death is unavoidable but it’s Dr. Kalam’s exemplary lessons and teachings that would keep him alive in billions of hearts forever.

With so much of contribution in the field of technology, Dr. Kalam emerged to be a famous personality throughout India. Moreover after becoming 11th President of India, he never opted for luxurious life and always lived simple. Even sometimes instead of using lifts, he opted for stairs. This adds to the simplicity of the great man. In his tenure of President from 2002 to 2007, he was called as ‘People’s President of India’ The journey from a newspaper boy to a scientist and president of India has inspired every Indian to dream big and work hard with dedication for dream to come true. Considering all those facts Dr. Abdul Kalam is most popular as role model among the Indians.
